Tribute to Alaric Aloor

by | Apr 12, 2023

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beloved friend and advisor, Alaric Aloor, over the weekend.

Alaric, an early believer in SavingsOak, was instrumental in helping us get off the ground. He helped open doors when we just had an idea and the beginnings of a mockup. He was critical to our early success. True to his helping and giving nature, he always ensured we kept the why of SavingsOak front and center – help everyone save for healthcare and retirement. He often said, “The only way success occurs is when we help others.”

Alaric had a way with people. It didn’t matter what he was going through personally or professionally; you always had his undivided attention. Alaric was a true embodiment of people-first. He would make time, sometimes past midnight, to solve issues. He enjoyed jumping right in and getting his hands dirty.

Alaric was exceptional. His relentless focus on the positive (and often the lighter side) made it easier for us to go through the startup grind. Alaric’s ability to distill complex situations into actionable steps was incredible. His bias toward action pushed us to do the right things and do things right.

His life shined so brightly that everyone who crossed paths with him found theirs illuminated.

We will forever remember him as a kind, generous, and brilliant human being with a heart of gold.

Our deepest condolences to his wife Sara, baby boy Ari, extended family, and the security and startup community he built, championed, and supported.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Women face more challenges when it comes to savings and retirement. It is primarily because women encounter a wage gap that follows them into their retirement years. Women only have 70% of the overall income in retirement that men enjoy. Many in that age group have no retirement savings at all.  In light of these facts, women need to plan for their retirement and consider health savings accounts (HSA) as a tool to help them achieve their goals and set themselves up to be financially secure.

Retirement income, savings, and investments all come to mind when people plan for retirement, but one thing often overlooked is the role that healthcare expenses can play in your retirement plans. It is time to focus in on that as well.
